A #18 foam would be 1.8 foam. Some usage guidelines: 1.8 (extra soft, used as back cushions) 2.4 (comfortable soft, firmer back cushions)

It never hurts to use a bit extra.

Jun 06, 2008· I had to remove alot of the foam in my boat to get the seats and switches in and think it would be nice to replace some of it. Jul 28, 2016· The foam absorbed water only after many years of neglect. The foam does not readily absorb water. Go ahead and test some if you like. The key benefit to using the pour-in foam versus foam boards is that the pour in foam adds lots and lots of strength to the boat. Who wants to ride around in a flimsy boat?

So. if you have a well made boat with foam flotation that was made correctly it will last the life of the boat, if treated well. If you have a boat where the foam was made under not so good conditions, it will more than likely absorb water.

Feb 19, 2017· the fact that your nearly 40 year old boat may need to be refoamed is not news. the foam has a finite life and your boat is past its design life (both the boat and the foam) if the foam it that bad, I would dig it out, flip the boat and refoam it your looking at a weekend project and a few $ in foam
